Sour Cream Butter Biscuits

These biscuits take me back to my days at The Bag Lady. I would put a couple of these in each lunch container for an extra treat! They are wonderful.

The Lady & Sons Onion-Cheese Bread

This bread is wonderful served along with our Baked Spaghetti (see page 260) and a fresh salad.

Cheese Muffins

These delectable muffins are so rich they can be served with nothing more than a large green salad for a luncheon.

Popovers

These popovers are so good it’s hard to believe they are so simple to make. The secret is starting with a cold oven. And don’t peek for the full 30 minutes.

Plantation Skillet Cake

This is a delicious breakfast dish, very easily prepared and quick to cook. It is something like Yorkshire pudding.

Roasted Red Pepper Vinaigrette

This is great over salad greens and excellent with fish; you can also use it as a light veggie dip. I recommend roasting fresh red bell peppers, but if time doesn’t allow, substitute a 14-ounce jar of roasted red peppers, drained, adding 1 teaspoon of sugar to ensure sweetness.

Balsamic Vinaigrette

This dressing is especially good on tossed greens with tomatoes, red onion, and crumbled blue cheese.

Warm Brie Salad Dressing

Pour this dressing over mixed greens such as Romaine, Boston, and one or two types of bitter greens.

Mocha Sauce

This sauce is wonderful on pound cake, ice cream, and many other desserts.

Raspberry Sauce

This sauce makes something special out of plain cake or vanilla ice cream.

Auntie’s Peanut Sauce

This is excellent on char-grilled chicken or pork. Swab or brush the sauce on the meat for the last 15 minutes of grilling time. Turn often, continuing to baste, to prevent burning.
